Role: Translational AI engineer embedded within Pfizerβs Research Unit, focused on scaling AI workflows for scientific and clinical applications, particularly in immunology and translational research. Responsibilities: design and engineer robust AI/ML systems, improve prototype stability, build data platforms and evaluation frameworks, assess commercial AI tools, and ensure systems meet scientific, clinical, and production standards. Requires translating scientific needs into reliable, reusable systems, with a focus on generative AI, predictive models, agentic workflows, and foundation models. Collaborates closely with computational biologists, immunologists, and clinicians, establishing SOPs and evaluation benchmarks. Maintains current knowledge of AI advances and promotes rigorous practices across the organization. Qualifications: PhD with 1+ years or Masterβs with 5+ years in software/ML engineering, hands-on experience in building production AI systems beyond prompt engineering, proficiency in Python, cloud deployment (AWS, GCP, Azure), databases (Postgres), and ML frameworks (PyTorch, HuggingFace). Familiarity with biological foundation models and immunology relevant to biotech R&D is preferred. Work setup: hybrid (average 2.5 days onsite/week) in the U.S., with a salary range of $139,100-$231,900, plus bonus and benefits. No visa sponsorship available.
