Toxicology Research Scientist

Role: Conduct preclinical safety assessments within Vertex’s PISA group, supporting early-stage drug development by developing and applying advanced in vitro models and computational approaches to evaluate safety risks of new candidate molecules. Responsibilities: independently design and execute novel biochemical and cell-based assays, leverage automation and data analytics for high-throughput screening, investigate mechanisms of toxicity, and communicate findings to cross-functional teams. Requirements: Bachelor's or higher degree; 2+ years (PhD) or 5+ years (Master's) or 8+ years (Bachelor's) in academic or industry settings; expertise in cell culture, assay development, immunoassays, and scripting (R, Python, MATLAB); strong analytical skills and scientific communication. Preferred: experience with cellular immunophenotyping, multiplexed ELISA, and translational models; background in drug safety, toxicology, or discovery pharmacology. High-Value: focus on safety assessment for novel drug modalities, integrating laboratory and computational science, supporting early discovery phases. WorkSetup: on-site five days/week with ad hoc flexibility.
