Role: Research Scientist in Vertex's Predictive and Investigative Safety Assessment (Toxicology) group, focused on developing advanced in vitro models to study toxicological mechanisms. Responsibilities include designing and optimizing 3D organoid, organ-on-a-chip, and co-culture assays, particularly involving immune and primary cells, to support safety assessment in drug discovery. The candidate will lead innovation in assay development, leverage automation and high-throughput formats, and collaborate cross-functionally to integrate models into broader discovery workflows. They will also analyze complex datasets, including omics, to elucidate toxicological pathways and inform in vivo correlations, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in toxicology, cellular biology, immunology, or related fields with 0-3 years postdoctoral experience, or equivalent education with relevant industry experience. Strong expertise in advanced in vitro models, immune cell co-cultures, and assay development is required. Familiarity with omics data analysis, scripting (Python/R), and tissue engineering is preferred.

High-Value: Focus on cellular toxicity mechanisms, immune-mediated toxicities, primary cell systems, and organ-on-a-chip technologies. Role involves translational research supporting drug safety evaluation at early development stages.

Work Setup: On-site, five days per week, with ad hoc flexibility.
