Role: Tooling Process Engineer responsible for designing and developing specialized tooling to support research, development, and commercialization of new products at 3M. Responsibilities include collaborating with NPI teams to develop tooling from concept through launch, transferring processes from R&D to manufacturing, optimizing microreplication tool production, and driving continuous process improvements. The role also involves developing test methods, ensuring quality, and creating intellectual property. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, with at least three months CAD experience. Preferred skills include experience with precision machine tools, G-code, GD&T, metrology techniques, multi-axis programming, statistical methods, and CAD/CAM software such as Siemens NX. Experience in R&D and manufacturing environments, particularly with microfabrication or high-growth applications, is highly valued. The position is based on-site at 3M Center in Maplewood, MN, with up to 5% domestic travel. The work involves close coordination with innovation and production teams, emphasizing technical excellence, process optimization, and intellectual property development in a high-tech manufacturing context.
