Role Summary

Technician - Visual Inspection responsible for supporting commissioning, qualification, and operational readiness of inspection lines during the project phase, with potential to develop into leadership roles. After project completion, operate highly automated equipment to inspect syringes, ensuring GMP and safety standards are met. This role may require domestic travel based on business need and is located in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Provide commissioning, qualification, and operational readiness support during the project phase.
  • Adhere to plant safety policies and procedures and contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure product quality.
  • Support leadership on the manufacturing floor by maintaining high safety, quality, and productivity to ensure reliable product supply.
  • Proactively monitor documentation and product quality; document activities and report issues to supervision.
  • Provide leadership support during troubleshooting and serve as a reliable point of contact for issue escalation on the shop floor.
  • Assist Supervisor in the development and training of shift operators.
  • Drive departmental objectives including safety, deviation reduction, productivity improvements, and training compliance.

Qualifications

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience (education may be substituted for experience with manager discretion)
  • Required: 2+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or other regulated industry
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to train and coach others
  • Preferred: Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal)
  • Preferred: Flexibility and problem-solving skills
  • Preferred: Scientific/technical degrees or certifications
  • Preferred: Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs)
  • Preferred: Experience with semi-automated and automated visual inspection equipment
  • Preferred: Experience with pre-filled syringe (PFS) technology
  • Preferred: Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems and electronic batch records
  • Preferred: Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to conduct and qualify machine operation trainings, including defect detection for syringes
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and bend for equipment cleaning and line clearances
  • Ability to wear safety equipment (glasses, shoes, gloves, etc.)
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to travel during the project phase and less than 5% after startup
  • Ability to pass an annual job fitness exam
