Role Summary

Technical Product Owner - MES leads the vision and backlog for Johnson & Johnson's NextGen MSP products at MedTech sites. This role translates business needs into prioritized user stories and drives value delivery at the squad level, supported by Product Analysts and Business Product Owners. The preferred location is Raritan, NJ; other locations include Athens, GA, Cornelia, GA, or San Angelo, TX. Travel is expected to be 10–20% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the MES product vision / roadmap and steer the squad in delivering products / platforms features / work oriented around business impact
  • Shape and prioritize MES backlog, utilizing business expertise and understanding of customer needs, translating requirements into user stories & acceptance criteria
  • Balance business value with technical feasibility while prioritizing stories and features, optimizing cost and improving delivery efficiency
  • Act as the “voice of the customer” within the squad to ensure the squad “builds the right thing”
  • Plan resourcing for the squad (i.e. new role, change in role), create ASOE requests, interview, select and onboard members to join the squad
  • Accountable for shaping and hitting squad OKRs
  • Work closely with MES Product/Platform Manager to establish the products’ business value and support messaging, comms and customer outreach as necessary
  • Ensure the products / features / work meets relevant security, privacy & compliance standards
  • Drive continuous improvement across the product lifecycle
  • Drive engagement with third parties to support delivery of squad objectives
  • Drive selection of solution options, work with the Lead Engineer to assess tech elements of the solution prior to user testing
  • Facilitate release planning, sprint planning and demos with stakeholders
  • Interact with other squads within the Product / Platform as part of synchronization ceremonies to implement cross-squad tasks
  • Drive reporting and analytics to provide visibility on squad performance and monitor sprint metrics and user results
  • Work with Lead Engineer to balance tech debt with feature delivery
  • Own and manage documentation and information
  • Collaborate to ensure all partners are clear on product roadmap activities, design, interdependencies and timelines
  • Actively participate in all squad ceremonies; lead and optimize the flow of value using various tools and reporting cadence

    • Experience managing a product backlog and release plan, tracking team metrics, attending product team ceremonies, and removing blockers such as burndown charts and release burn up
    • Experience developing systems and tools to enable customer interactions and collaboration (e.g., digital self-service, precision marketing, DAM, immersive technology)
  • Product / Digital Expertise
    • Understanding of customer journeys and customer experience
    • Foundational skills (at minimum) in Data Engineering, Cybersecurity, Intelligent Automation and Emerging Technology

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Required: 10+ years of IT product requirements management, design, and solution deployment of major IT capabilities (like ERP / Manufacturing / Shop Floor systems) across multiple sites
  • Required: Experience with ERP (such as SAP / JDE) and MES (such as Camstar, Siemens OpCenter, Critical Manufacturing)
  • Preferred: Experience in program / project execution utilizing Agile / JIRA / rRDM methodology
  • Preferred: MES Project delivery experience
  • Preferred: Product management certification
  • Preferred: Familiarity with GxP and SOX requirements and regulations
