Role Summary

The Technical Consultant will work with customers to position Elanco as the partner of choice by delivering exceptional technical expertise, market-leading product solutions, scientifically sound research studies, and value beyond product including consulting, analytics, diagnostics, and market access support.

Responsibilities

  • Sales and Marketing Support: Work closely with customers and serve as an active member of account teams
  • Sales and Marketing Support: Identify and position opportunities for customers to use Elanco products
  • Sales and Marketing Support: Actively participate in account planning and incorporate Elancoโ€™s value strategy
  • Sales and Marketing Support: Participate in the development and deployment of training events and materials
  • Sales and Marketing Support: Aide in the planning and preparation for new product launches
  • Sales and Marketing Support: Implement Elancoโ€™s value strategy at the customer level
  • Customer and Technical Leadership: Train and coach Elanco personnel on disease, products, and industry practices
  • Customer and Technical Leadership: Build relationships with and influence external customers, consultants, and academics
  • Customer and Technical Leadership: Identify avenues to deliver value beyond product to customers and Elanco
  • Customer and Technical Leadership: Maintain good standing with and influence of key industry organizations
  • Research and Innovation: Prioritize and execute research aligned with business needs and brand specific lifecycle planning
  • Research and Innovation: Conduct research utilizing approved Elanco products
  • Research and Innovation: Ensure publication of research studies in scientific meetings and peer reviewed journals
  • Research and Innovation: Identify and facilitate research efforts in conjunction with Elanco R&D
  • Research and Innovation: Advise Elanco and key stakeholders of innovation opportunities
  • Business Leadership: Effectively communicate within technical team and account teams
  • Business Leadership: Identify opportunities and threats for customers and Elanco
  • Business Leadership: Influence long range strategy and product positioning
  • Business Leadership: Identify external talent for technical and other roles within Elanco

Qualifications

  • Required: Education: DVM
  • Required: Experience: 3-5 years of beef industry experience
  • Preferred: Candidate must have a thorough understanding of the US cattle industry
  • Preferred: Knowledge of cattle producers, animal health, and drivers of profitability
  • Preferred: Candidate must have an expertise in technical consultancy, with special emphasis on addressing customer concerns or needs
  • Preferred: Excellent communication (written and oral) and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment
