General Summary:
As Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting, you will translate complex transactions and evolving standards into clear, actionable accounting guidance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical accounting research and prepare analyses/whitepapers for complex areas (collaboration arrangements, lease arrangements, business development transactions, impairment assessments).
- Develop, maintain, and train others on Vertex accounting policies.
- Research and communicate accounting/financial statement impacts of proposed opportunities for Business Development, FP&A, and other finance groups.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement new accounting standards and assess reporting implications.
- Monitor new accounting/reporting guidance; prepare executive summaries and implementation plans.
- Participate in close-related accounting reviews and analyses.
- Support special projects as needed.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent required.
- CPA license required; active/in good standing.
- Typically 7+ years of progressive financial accounting/reporting experience, including 3–4 years in public accounting (Big 4 or large regional preferred). Life sciences/biopharma audit is a plus.

Required Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong, current U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting knowledge (collaborations, in-/out-licensing, R&D, pharma biotech manufacturing/inventory/leases, business combinations/asset acquisitions, fair value, stock-based compensation).
- Exceptional written communication; translate complex concepts into clear whitepapers/policies/disclosures.
- Articulate technical concepts in plain English; strong cross-functional relationship skills.
- Manage multiple tasks with strong professional judgment.
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Experience implementing new accounting standards.

Preferred:
- M&A experience (purchase price allocation/acquisition accounting).
- Familiarity with Workiva and Oracle (or equivalent ERP).
- Interest in leveraging AI tools to improve accounting processes.

Pay Range:
$126,400 - $189,600
