Energy Center Technician (Vaccine Manufacturing Facility, Durham, NC)
Responsibilities:
- Provide energy center maintenance support and alarm monitoring.
- Operate and maintain Energy Center equipment (e.g., chillers, air compressors, boilers, waste water treatment, potable water).
- Maintain all Energy Center equipment site-wide; correct Plant Engineering maintenance problems.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and prepare inspection reports.
- Use PM/PDM techniques, including vibration analysis and ultrasonic detection.
- Set up, adjust, repair, and maintain equipment.
- Prepare technical documentation (PMs, correctives, validation procedures) as needed.
- Develop/perform PMs, install new equipment, complete validation protocols, and document work in SAP/CMMS.
- Support new equipment installations (interface with vendors, recommend spare parts, lubrication processes; assist process engineers; initial de-bug/redesign).
- Perform work in conformance with GMP and department SOPs.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent + 2 years energy center maintenance (utility systems/troubleshooting/repair in manufacturing); OR
- 2-year technical degree + 2 years energy center maintenance in industrial utility systems management.
Required:
- PC/computer literacy (Windows, MS Office); read electrical prints and P&IDs/control loops.
- Extensive electrical/utility systems experience (steam generation, compressors, chillers, potable water, building automation, waste water, HVAC).
- Experience documenting maintenance/repairs; team-based culture.
- Ability to work independently; strong interpersonal/organizational skills.
- Ability to work overtime (weekends, holidays, evenings, nights).
Preferred:
- Universal Refrigerant License.
Schedule: rotating shift, 5-2-2-5; 6:00β6:00; days/nights rotate every 3 months.
