Target Validation Sr Director

Role: Senior Director, Global Research – Target Discovery, leading Amgen's Target Validation Unit within Research Biology. Objectives: develop and oversee a multidisciplinary team to implement cutting-edge experimental and computational science for target discovery across therapeutic areas including Oncology, Inflammation, and Rare Diseases. Responsibilities: build and manage a team of ~25 scientists; integrate diverse workflows; prioritize platform development, automation, and AI/ML adoption; serve as scientific partner to research and therapeutic teams; contribute to target validation and prioritization; communicate complex insights to stakeholders. Qualifications: PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, or related field with 7+ years of leadership in biotech/pharma, or equivalent experience with Master’s or Bachelor’s degrees and more years of leadership. Preferred: experience with mechanistic discovery, -omics platforms, genetics/genomics, AI/ML integration, and proven scientific impact.
