Role Summary

Tank Farm & Solvent Recovery (TFSR) Engineering Manager at Lilly. Responsible for the technical and administrative leadership of TFSR engineers at the Lebanon Plant API manufacturing site, maintaining tank farm and solvent recovery infrastructure to compliance, and supporting GMP operations during startup and ongoing manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • TFSR Engineering: Build deep technical engineering capability in Tank Farm, solvent recovery and waste systems, and support systems such as bulk nitrogen, ventilation, and cryogenic emission systems; manage all GMP and non-GMP systems and related processes, including monitoring critical parameters and industry trends; ensure deviations, change controls, and CAPA are resolved with other teams; ensure alignment with regulations and Lilly standards; participate in teams or committees to achieve goals.
  • People Management: Lead and manage resources effectively; ensure team compliance and training; lead safety communications and audits; oversee performance management and development plans; align the team with site and team objectives; provide technical guidance and mentorship; foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Engineering Management: Provide direction for projects and design needs; support regulatory and internal audits; own incident reporting and corrective actions; maintain compliance and improve processes; ensure standards compliance; establish manufacturing metrics; develop local processes for the fume system; develop project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates; complete technical change documentation and HSE documentation; support safety and environmental process activities and lead in these areas; direct and develop engineers in capital project execution including process design, equipment specification, training, startup support, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • Required: 5+ years of progressive chemical process and plant experience
  • Required: 2+ years supervisory experience in engineering

Skills

  • Experience with tank farm operations (bulk loading/unloading, bulk solvent/material handling, storage and distribution, liquid waste management)
  • Knowledge of solvent recovery and waste systems
  • Strong regulatory and quality systems understanding (GMP/Non-GMP, deviations, change controls, CAPA)
  • Leadership and people management in manufacturing environments
  • Regulatory audit support and incident investigation
  • Project planning, scope development, scheduling and cost estimation
  • Effective communication at all levels and cross-functional collaboration
  • Safety leadership and risk management

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in facility/area startup environments (preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership in manufacturing or maintenance (preferred)
  • Ability to collaborate, make independent decisions, influence diverse groups
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
