About the Role
As Systems Engineer II, you will architect, engineer, and operate enterprise-scale infrastructure across on-prem datacenters, virtual platforms, and cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure). You will manage the full lifecycle of compute, server provisioning, networking, storage, core services, monitoring, automation, security, and disaster recovery. You will modernize legacy systems and deliver resilient, scalable, secure infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Modernize compute, storage, and network services for reliability, performance, scalability, and security.
- Create architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and system design documentation.
- Lead end-to-end server provisioning/deprovisioning for Windows and Linux; integrate with ServiceNow automation and catalog workflows.
- Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers.
- Build automation for server builds, configuration, patching, drift detection, and lifecycle workflows (PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Ansible).
- Manage workloads across on-prem, virtual, and cloud; ensure performance and availability.
- Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle governance.
- Manage hybrid storage (NetApp, SAN, NAS), replication, and DR configurations.
- Partner with Cybersecurity on hardening, remediation, identity hygiene, and logging; enhance monitoring/alerting.
- Support disaster recovery planning, runbooks, tabletop exercises, and failover testing.
Who You Are / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (CS, IT, or Engineering) + 6+ years in Systems Engineering or Infrastructure Architecture; 3–5+ years with compute platforms and datacenter environments.
- Hands-on experience: Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu/Red Hat), virtualization, storage, networking; golden images.
- Experience with on-prem, VMware/Hyper-V, and cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Scripting/automation: PowerShell, Python; IaC tools (Terraform/Ansible).
- Directory services (Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, LDAP) and protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, SMTP, SSL/TLS).
- Firewall configuration, segmentation, security policy implementation.
- Backup/recovery platforms (Druva, Commvault, Veeam) and DR planning/execution.
- ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.
Nice to Have
- Multi-site deployments; regulated environments (GxP, CSV, NIST, ISO).
- Certifications (MCSE, CCNA, AWS/GCP/Azure) advantageous.
Where You’ll Work
Hybrid based in Bridgewater, NJ; remote most of the time with in-person collaboration 2–3x/week; occasional evenings/weekends for incidents/maintenance.
