Role Summary

IT Systems Administrator responsible for owning core business applications and serving as a technical partner to end users in a biotech environment. This role blends hands-on systems administration with user-focused support, administering Okta and SharePoint, improving access and automation, and validating enterprise applications that support scientific and business operations. Ideal candidates will have strong depth in Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365, and PC hardware, with clear communication and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Location: San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Manage critical business applications, ensuring seamless operation and effective troubleshooting.
  • Provide consistent support for tier I and II IT requests to resolve end user and systems issues.
  • Document technical issue resolutions and updates for support tickets.
  • Administer cloud-based systems, overseeing user activity monitoring, policy creation, and troubleshooting.
  • Utilize advanced content search skills for data discovery and retrieval to support company inquiries across platforms.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting for IT systems and devices.
  • Serve as SME and administrator for Okta and SharePoint.
  • Oversee user access management, policy configuration, troubleshooting, and orchestration of Okta automation; Manage SharePoint access.
  • Assist in validating Fate Enterprise applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent IT certifications with 4+ years of systems admin experience for a mid-size company, preferably in biotech or life science.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows 10/11 Pro/Enterprise, Microsoft Office 365 apps, and PC hardware (laptops, desktops, tablets).
  • Experience with on-premises Active Directory administration and Entra integrations.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience and applications support across multiple IT systems.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills; ability to explain IT concepts in non-technical terms.
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment; independent thinker proactive in IT system improvements.
  • Team-oriented with flexibility to work beyond assigned duties; ability to prioritize and manage multiple milestones and projects.
  • Multiple computer-related qualifications and certifications are a plus.
