Role Summary
Supply Chain Director, Integrated Business Planning (IBP) leads the enterprise IBP process at Amgen, aligning demand, supply, finance, and strategy to enable informed decision-making, optimize performance, and support the company’s growth and strategic objectives. The role advances IBP maturity across the enterprise and provides executives with clear insights, scenarios, and recommendations in a regulated, portfolio-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the enterprise Integrated Business Planning cycle, ensuring timely, high-quality execution across all horizons (operational, tactical, and strategic).
- Orchestrate cross-functional collaboration among Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Manufacturing, and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure consistent integration of demand, supply, inventory, and financial plans into a single, aligned operating plan.
- Drive scenario planning, risk/opportunity assessment, and trade-off analysis to support executive decision-making.
- Assess current IBP capabilities and define a clear roadmap to advance IBP maturity in line with best-in-class standards.
- Champion process standardization, analytics enhancement, and technology enablement to improve planning effectiveness and transparency.
- Embed a culture of fact-based, data-driven decision-making across the planning organization.
- Identify and implement improvements that increase agility, resilience, and responsiveness of the business.
- Establish and maintain IBP governance structures, including clear decision rights, escalation paths, and accountability.
- Prepare and facilitate executive IBP forums, ensuring clear insights, recommendations, and alignment on key decisions.
- Act as the single point of accountability for IBP outcomes, ensuring adherence to governance standards and cadence.
- Partner with senior leaders to set priorities and drive timely decisions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop IBP and planning talent, fostering strong business acumen and cross-functional thinking.
- Influence without authority in a highly matrixed environment.
- Build strong relationships across the enterprise to drive alignment and sustained engagement in IBP processes.
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate degree + 4 years experience in supply chain, operations, finance, or planning
- Required: Master’s degree + 7 years experience in supply chain, operations, finance, or planning
- Required: Bachelor’s degree + 9 years experience in supply chain, operations, finance, or planning
- Preferred: MBA or advanced degree
- Preferred: Experience in biopharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated industries
- Preferred: Demonstrated expertise in Integrated Business Planning (IBP) / S&OP, including executive governance
- Preferred: Proven track record of advancing IBP maturity and enabling enterprise decision-making
- Preferred: Experience leading cross-functional, enterprise-wide planning or governance processes
- Preferred: Experience operating in a complex, highly regulated environment
- Preferred: Experience presenting to and influencing senior leadership
- Preferred: Strong financial acumen and portfolio-level thinking / Finance background
