Responsibilities:
- Supervise assembly and recellularization bioprocess execution teams supporting tissue-based regenerative medicine for pulmonary hypertension and other lung diseases.
- Coordinate and organize experiments using human/non-human organs, tissues, and cells; ensure plans and schedules align to studies.
- Lead and improve in-house lung recellularization process development.
- Perform routine tasks and analytical assays (including non-standard/complex aspects) with minimal instruction; guide deviations from defined procedures.
- Supervise tissue engineering cultures and assembly of tubing/bioreactors/specialized materials; provide technical guidance, training, and ensure quality outputs.
- Plan and schedule experiments; coordinate equipment/personnel; manage resources and determine feasibility/timelines.
- Review/analyze team activities and data to improve operational efficiency; implement process improvements.
- Author/update lab procedures and protocols under GLP-like conditions.
- Coordinate technology transfer with industrial/academic partners.
- Coordinate sample preparation/shipment to CROs and vendors; ensure accurate documentation.
- Manage inventory/reagents; support forecasting and ordering.
- Enforce lab safety and universal precautions for human-derived materials.
- Supervise direct reports (training, goals, performance evaluations) as needed; may require occasional evenings/weekends/holidays.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years post-baccalaureate in biology/cellular & molecular biology/biomedical sciences (Associate) OR 5+ years (Bachelor) OR 3+ years (Master).
- 1+ year leading via team coordination, coaching, or mentoring.
- Proficiency with standard office software; experience with lab instrumentation and data software.
- Ability to resolve investigations/troubleshooting/optimization and logistical scheduling.
- Ability to manage a diverse workforce; handle confidential company data.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ year directly supervising a team; 1+ year in cell culture or tissue engineering.
- Familiarity with equipment (e.g., BSCs, fume hoods, balances, pipettes, NOVA system, cell counter, endotoxin readers).
- Strong documentation and verbal communication; ability to communicate complex issues in writing.
