Position Brand Description
The person mentors and develops maintenance personnel. Manages a team, creates work schedules for maintenance mechanics, and reduces overtime by collaborating with business partners to schedule work during normal working hours. Determines insourcing/outsourcing opportunities to maintain the maintenance backlog. Ensures a safe, compliant, cost-efficient maintenance operation; improves productivity and quality by eliminating delays/obstacles; maintains reliable, cost-effective, compliant process systems.
Key Objectives/Deliverables
Safety:
- Comply with HSE aspects; support departmental HSE plans (e.g., LOTO)
- Promote Be-Safe, Safe Start, LIFE, and other safety programs
- Manage Be-Safe submissions and Gensuite action tracker activities
- Verify work completion per safety standards; engage team in safety initiatives
Quality:
- Maintain accurate personnel learning plans and 100% training compliance
- Maintain equipment/facilities per housekeeping and fit & finish standards
- Maintain inspection readiness; verify work per quality standards
- Ensure adequate number of qualified personnel; assign only qualified personnel
Operational Excellence:
- Support communications between functional teams
- Use information systems (GMARS, Outlook, Word, Excel, Business Objects, etc.)
- Ensure work orders have correct info (location, GL account, etc.)
- Manage backlog via maintenance schedules; coordinate with impacted teams
- Manage free issue maintenance parts; review/close work orders
People:
- Ensure staff have job descriptions covering duties
- Oversee performance management plans aligned to priorities
- Coach/direct reports; address performance issues and skill gaps
- Manage succession planning; use recognition tools
- Participate in maintenance personnel selection; meet regularly with team on plans/metrics
Basic Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED
- Minimum 2 yearsβ experience as a supervisor OR 3 years in craft/mechanic/technician role
- Valid driverβs license
- Full-time U.S. work authorization (no visa sponsorship)
Additional Preferences:
- Device Assembly and Packaging Systems experience
- GMARS proficiency
- Mechanical aptitude; understanding of regulatory fields
- Strong oral/written communication; coaching/feedback
- Ability to set expectations and monitor results
- Withstand winter/summer outdoor conditions; lift 40 lbs
Other Information:
- Days 3-2-2-3, 12 hours; overtime required.
