Job Description:
The QC Lab Supervisor I is responsible for the organization, administration, and supervision of Lab Analysts and other Lab employees, overseeing day-to-day operations and shop floor presence. Oversees chemical analysis and release of raw materials, in-process, and final products in compliance with quality criteria, deadlines, and costs. Ensures effective utilization of laboratory resources through management of lab support activities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-performing team; hire, set expectations, provide continuous feedback, coach, assist problem-solving, and handle employee matters; monitor training and development needs.
- Oversee laboratory operations (raw materials, finished products, projects/validation samples, environmental monitoring).
- Implement corrective actions for tests/results needing attention; support investigations including out-of-specification results.
- Review/approve data (per regional regulatory requirements) and communicate/present QC metrics; attend/lead Tier meetings.
- Ensure QC activities follow internal procedures, cGMP, and safety standards; support continuous improvement.
- Assist with analytical/microbial instrumentation; ensure availability via preventive/repair maintenance and material qualifications; plan instrument needs.
- Support inspections/audits; may back up the Lab Manager; generate/manage non-hazardous and hazardous waste per procedures and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree (preferred: Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology).
- 2+ years QC lab experience.
- Expertise in chemistry, technical writing, investigations, analytical lab equipment, and lab operations.
- Knowledge of cGMPs, compendia, and regulations.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, influence, negotiation, conflict resolution; inclusive leadership.
- Cross-functional coordination and ability to interpret lab data for corrective actions.
- Ability to develop and complete corrective action plans.
