Role Summary

Summer Intern - AI-Based Protein Design on the Research Team to help expand whatβ€šΓ„Γ΄s possible for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the Sr. Scientist, Deep Learning. This is a full-time paid internship designed to provide hands-on experience, mentoring, and opportunities for rotational assignments within the function.

Responsibilities

  • Build AI architectures to generate and optimize protein candidates guided by multiple protein properties
  • Develop and implement AI algorithms to predict protein properties, learning from general data as well as protein target-specific data
  • Curate new datasets for training or fine-tuning AI models
  • Collaborate with computational and experimental colleagues to advance biotherapeutics discovery
  • Effectively present your findings to team members with various backgrounds

Qualifications

  • Required: Proficiency in Python and general-purpose ML and DL frameworks (e.g., PyTorch); understanding of general AI architectures (e.g., generative models)
  • Required: Basic knowledge of chemistry/biology and protein science
  • Required: Current student pursuing PhD or MS in computational biology, computational chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline
  • Required: Desire to work at the interface of computational and biological sciences
  • Required: Good problem-solving, teamwork and communication abilities
  • Preferred: Experience with large-scale data cleaning
  • Preferred: Familiarity with high-performance computing environments and/or cloud computing platforms

  • Collaborative and interdisciplinary communication

Education

  • PhD or MS in computational biology, computational chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or related quantitative field

Additional Requirements

  • Location: Fully remote with occasional travel for team meetings or events
  • Internship details: Full-time (40 hours per week), paid; may include rotational assignments; assigned goals aligned with company plan
