      Role Summary
 Summer 2026 - Research Engineering Internship at Bristol Myers Squibb. The intern will work in the Research Engineering (RE) group within the Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) group, applying generative AI, LLMs, and agentic frameworks to translational research use cases and drug development. The internship provides exposure to the drug development process, collaboration across disciplines, and opportunities to network within BMS. The full-time internship runs JuneโรรฌAugust 2026.
 
 Responsibilities
 
  - Apply generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and agentic frameworks to practical problems in translational research and drug development.
 
  - Build intelligent tools and systems to enhance data accessibility, streamline exploratory analysis, and improve data quality across core R&D datasets.
 
  - Collaborate with Enterprise IT and broader teams to expand RE capabilities; projects will be tailored to the internโรรดs background and interests.
 
 
 
 Qualifications
 
  - Rising junior or higher undergraduate or MS/PhD graduate student in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field; no work experience required.
 
  - Fluency with Linux-based high-performance computing environments, including Python, Linux shell scripting, R, SSH, and Git.
 
  - Strong programming background in Python.
 
  - Knowledge of and experience applying generative AI and LLM technologies to practical problems (e.g., AI-powered chatbots is a plus).
 
  - Familiarity with AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI, AgentCore, AWS Bedrock Agents) and MCP servers is a plus.
 
  - Web development experience and experience with AWS technologies (EC2, Beanstalk, S3, Bedrock) is a plus.
 
  - Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, with rigorous and creative thinking.
 
  - Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to explain complex ideas to computational scientists, experimentalists, and clinicians.
 
  - Ability to collaborate with diverse groups across the organization and solve problems benefiting downstream analysts and decision-making teams.
 
  - Authorized to work in the US for the duration of the internship; immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
