Storage & Backup Platform Operations Engineer

Role Summary

Storage & Backup Platform Operations Engineer. Drive global technical operations of Storage & Backups within Infrastructure Hosting Platform, developing and supporting Storage and Backup IaaS capabilities hosted on-premises and in Public Cloud. Collaborate on strategy for on-premises private cloud and public IaaS Storage Block and Files services. Focus on improving availability, reliability, and observability of storage and backup infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global technical operations of Storage and Backup capabilities.
• Work with Storage Engineering on strategy for on-premises private cloud and public IaaS storage services.
• Improve storage and backup infrastructure service through repeatable patterns, new designs, and better observability to prevent outages.
• Collaborate with global operations SMEs and platform teams to deliver daily operations in this area.

Qualifications

• Required: 4 to 7 years of experience as a Storage Platform Engineer.
• Preferred: Cloud certifications or supporting development; experience leading global large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related technical field.

Skills

• Technical leadership and ability to translate ideas into operational solutions.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Dell SAN storage and backup solutions in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Experience with CIFS/SMB, NFS, multi-protocol, and basic Linux administration.
• Familiarity with configuration management/automation tools (Ansible, Puppet).
• Working knowledge of Azure/AWS and IaaS services.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work across global teams.
• Ability to collaborate with Windows and Linux domain experts to resolve performance issues.
• Experience leading deployments across multiple global locations.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related technical field.

Additional Requirements

• Onsite role located in Indianapolis, IN (relocation required).
• Less than 5% travel.
• Shift hours: 11:00am – 8:00pm EST / 12:00-9:00pm EDT; available shifts: Mon-Fri or Thu-Mon.
