General Summary:
The Stem Cell Research Scientist works with some independence and designs and executes focused research projects involving human hematopoietic cell models and assays to evaluate targets and lead molecules for Vertex diseases.

Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct multi-component in vitro and ex vivo experiments with primary hematopoietic cells and cell lines
- Collate and interpret data; synthesize results into recommendations to guide project decisions and new research
- Prioritize studies based on feasibility and project impact
- Perform advanced experimental troubleshooting
- Review relevant scientific literature and incorporate new insights
- Identify and introduce emerging technologies to advance and maintain technology platforms
- Explore and validate new experimental approaches and technologies to achieve project goals
- Contribute to patent and/or publication preparation
- Prepare and present study presentations and experimental conclusions at internal meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge And Skills:
- Ability to design and execute complex experiments, including human hematopoietic cell assays
- Hands-on experience with primary human hematopoietic cells; multicolor flow cytometry; cell-based functional assays
- Experience with gene editing techniques
- Strong understanding of relevant literature; stay current in the scientific field
- Productivity, experimental creativity, and dissemination of ideas
- Effective, self-sufficient communication for peer-directed presentations
- Awareness of related project disciplines and general experimental concepts

Education And Experience:
- Ph.D. (or equivalent) in related fields with 0–3 years post-doctoral experience, or
- Master’s (or equivalent) in related fields with 3+ years relevant experience, or
- Bachelor’s (or equivalent) in related fields with 6+ years relevant experience

Pay Range:
- $104,200 - $156,200

- Eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards

Flex Designation:
- On-site: five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility
