Role Summary
Hybrid Staff Specialist, Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Responsible for the EH&S infrastructure for the Patient Service Center (PSC) organization, including the pharmacy and office locations in Pittsburgh and remote employees across the US. Ensures operations are in compliance with federal, state, and local EH&S regulations, as well as Johnson & Johnson EH&S Standards. Partners with site leadership to establish and implement an EH&S strategy and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) aligned with the J&J Enterprise EH&S organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support as the key EH&S resource servicing PSC locations in Pittsburgh PA and remote employees.
- Partner with local management to develop and implement a site Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA) to address EH&S program deficiencies and ensure EH&S regulatory compliance.
- Monitor CAPA progress, providing leadership, technical support and professional expertise to ensure Enterprise and site goals are met; ensure all records are properly maintained and reports are prepared/submitted in a timely manner.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory permits, conditions and other EH&S reporting requirements. This individual will understand applicable Federal, State, and local EHS laws and regulations, standards, codes and guidelines and interpret requirements to client groups.
- Develop EH&S objectives for the site by auditing, analyzing, documenting, and reporting on implementation and effectiveness to management via dashboards and reports.
- Monitor and evaluate EH&S operation risks, including change management, ensuring continuous improvement of the EH&S management system to make it leaner and more efficient.
- Provide site leadership with ongoing consultation regarding environmental, health and safety regulations and Enterprise EH&S initiatives, identifying impacts on key business objectives.
- Develop, implement and deliver EH&S training strategy, ensuring key risk and regulatory requirements are addressed for appropriate audiences, including new hires.
- Develop, support and facilitate site EH&S committees and teams to ensure effective implementation of the EH&S program.
- Collaborate with the J&J Enterprise EH&S organization, working directly with EH&S professionals supporting the Americas Commercial Operations organization.
- Support the emergency preparedness and response programs as needed.
- Up to 10% travel required
Qualifications
- 6-8 years of EH&S experience is required. Experience managing EH&S programs for facilities management, commercial properties and contractor management programs are also preferred.
- Knowledge of USEPA, PA Department of Environmental Protection, and OSHA regulations.
- Understanding of operational impacts on the environment β air pollution, refrigerants and greenhouse gas requirements, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, chemical management, emergency response, and resource conservation.
- Technical experience in diverse EH&S areas including but not limited to air, water, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, office safety, ergonomics, powered industrial vehicles, material handling, risk assessment and contractor safety.
- Demonstrated project management skills and technical working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
- Classroom instruction and training delivery skills.
- Strong organizational skills: including the ability to generate required reports and maintain record keeping systems.
- Experience proactively identifying, evaluating and controlling EH&S risks in the workplace.
- Ability to quickly interpret complex regulatory issues and recommend appropriate course of action.

- Ability to use internet, intranet and other internal and external company systems as needed to support EH&S functions.

- Bachelorβs degree or equivalent in Science, Engineering or another technical Field
