Position Summary
Bio-Techne is seeking a Staff Scientist (Process Optimization), initially supporting the Maurice product line.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshooting for product performance issues, distinguishing assay, design, and manufacturing drivers through data analysis and targeted experimentation.
- Define and execute validation plans for design or process changes based on customer usage data and patterns related to product failures or performance variability.
- Interface with development and manufacturing teams to evaluate and implement reagent/consumable designs, manufacturing protocols, and process controls.
- Collaborate with development scientists/engineers and applications teams to understand and troubleshoot end-user workflows and assay requirements (may include customer interactions).
- Optimize, validate, and implement manufacturing process improvements for reagents and high-volume consumables.
- Prepare technical reports, failure analysis documentation, and presentations.
- International travel to Canada (estimated 1β4 times/year).
Education and Experience / Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field.
- 10+ years in life science instrumentation, consumables manufacturing, or regulated analytical environments.
- Demonstrated assay development and troubleshooting experience (ideally biologics analytics).
- Strong problem-solving with advanced statistical methods for multifaceted assay/hardware/process data.
- Strong understanding of product design, development, and manufacturing for complex consumables/reagents.
- Hands-on process development, scale-up, and/or validation in a commercial manufacturing facility.
- Experience with RCA and process validation via meaningful experiments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding communication/interpersonal skills and attention to detail with strong documentation.
