Staff Scientist II - Medicinal Chemistry

Role: Senior medicinal chemist supporting small molecule drug discovery at Protagonist Therapeutics, with opportunities to co-lead projects. Responsibilities: design and synthesize new molecules based on SAR for lead optimization, develop synthetic routes, troubleshoot synthetic challenges, manage external chemistry vendors, and support cross-functional teams with technical expertise; prepare and communicate research data and documentation. Requirements: PhD in Synthetic Organic or Medicinal Chemistry; 2-5 years industrial experience; proficiency in target design, synthesis, scale-up, and problem-solving; knowledge of related biology and experience with computational chemistry software; strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
