Role Summary
Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team. The Staff Accountant will be a key member involved in the month-end close process, including preparing monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis, reviewing vendor and subcontractor invoices, financial analysis, as well as internal and external reporting requirements. This role will work cross-functionally with accounting, FP&A and operations. The position reports to the Director of Accounting and Operations. This position is hybrid and based in Canton, MA.
Responsibilities
- Support the monthly close process, including the preparation and posting of journal entries and maintenance of support schedules
- Complete account reconciliations, including research on the adequacy of account balances, reconciling bank statements, prepaid accounts, and other general ledger accounts; analyze fluctuations over prior periods
- Provide meaningful and accurate financial analysis on specific accounts on a monthly basis through preparation of variance reports
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting policies under U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements
- Assist in the preparation and filing of public reports including the 10-K and 10-Q; prepare detailed work papers to support financial statement disclosures and SEC filings
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Assist with SOX 404 internal control documentation and testing
- Collaborate with external audit staff for quarter-end reviews and year-end audit work
- Act as a key member representing the Accounting department in the ERP implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Handle clerical and administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and organizing financial documents to maintain a well-organized finance function
- Support ad hoc financial analyses and projects as assigned by the Director of Accounting and Operations
Qualifications
- Required: 1-3+ years of experience in general accounting
- Preferred: Public accounting experience; CPA is a plus
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft AX/Dynamics 365
- Required: Ability to adhere to tight reporting deadlines
- Required: Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Required: Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Required: Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Education
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
