Role Summary

The Staff Accountant analyzes accounting areas to ensure adherence with GAAP, ensures documentation is clear and auditable, and works with the team to accurately close the books on monthly and quarterly deadlines. The role requires motivation, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, strong problem-solving skills, concise communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The position focuses on review and reconciliation of cash, prepaids, leases, equity, expenses, various accruals, fixed assets, inventory, and other areas within the accounting department, and collaborates with the accounting team, other departments, and internal and external auditors. Location: Burlington, MA (in-office Monday–Thursday with remote Fridays).

Responsibilities

  • Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes for areas assigned.
  • Preparation of all workpapers, and deliverables related to various accounting areas including cash, prepaids, leases, equity, various accruals, fixed assets and inventory
  • Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in T&E compliance.
  • Generating ad-hoc reports and statements for internal use, as needed.
  • Assist in streamlining and improving processes and identifying areas of performance improvement.
  • Play a key role in ERP and systematic upgrades and efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure documentation/support created of all work performed is clear, concise, auditable and adheres to internal control policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance on all internal and external audit requests timely & effectively.
  • Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting, and comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience, public accounting experience preferred.
  • Understanding of intermediate principles of accounting.
  • Strong ERP skills.
  • Intermediate excel skills required.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability of final work product.
  • Works well in a team environment, positive attitude.
