Role Summary
Senior Therapeutic Specialist, Oncology represents Gilead's oncology products to a defined customer base and drives sales within a geographic area. You will build strong relationships with healthcare practices, provide disease awareness information and clinical updates, and translate complex clinical concepts for diverse audiences. You will collaborate with Medical Scientists, Marketing, and Market Access on cross-functional projects and tailor approaches to the Scranton–Allentown territory (Allentown, Scranton, York, Harrisburg, Danville, Chambersburg, State College, Williamsport). Relocation is not available.
Responsibilities
- Represent Oncology products and services to a defined customer base, generate and grow sales, and consistently achieve or exceed sales targets within the geographic area.
- Prepare a business plan for the territory and implement systems to monitor sales progress and action plans.
- Identify patient pathways within oncology offices in the assigned territory and facilitate patient access to treatment.
- Promote assigned products to targeted oncologists and office staff; educate staff to ensure safe and appropriate drug administration and inform them about Gilead patient services.
- Establish and develop relationships with key customers, accounts, and relevant key opinion leaders.
- Leverage experience in hospital and large account sales to navigate complex reimbursement issues.
- Communicate effectively—strong written and verbal skills, solid presentation abilities, and the ability to influence others to represent Gilead at professional events and promote products.
- Partner with Medical Scientists, Marketing, and Market Access on cross-functional projects to drive sales and patient adoption.
- Demonstrate leadership among peers by modeling compliant behavior and conduct.
- Identify and resolve issues and opportunities, and communicate proactively to Marketing and Sales management.
- Complete administrative tasks promptly (e.g., updating customer database, expenses).
- Maintain adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies related to product promotion and information dissemination.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and support ongoing programs as needed.
- Address issues and opportunities and ensure timely communication to management.
- Lead with accountability in outcomes and foster a professional, compliant work environment.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience with BS/BA; or 4+ years with MS/MA.
- Preferred: Ability to travel regularly within the assigned area and comply with any practitioner visitation requirements (vaccinations, screenings, etc.).
- Preferred: 7+ years pharmaceutical/healthcare sales experience and a BS/BA degree or equivalent.
- Preferred: Previous product launch experience.
- Preferred: Superior selling skills in highly competitive markets.
- Preferred: Prior experience in oncology therapy, with strong preference for experience in breast cancer.
- Preferred: Aptitude for understanding scientific product related information.
- Preferred: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with Oncology key opinion leaders.
- Preferred: Proven expertise in influencing and strong negotiation skills; experience in account planning and cross-functional account management.
- Preferred: Self-motivated with autonomy and independence.
- Preferred: Familiarity with industry trends and competitive practices.
- Preferred: Analytical skills and the ability to identify and interpret moderate to complex issues and provide recommendations to management and specialists.
