Role Summary
Sr Therapeutic Specialist, Oncology – Des Moines, Iowa. Represent oncology products and services to a defined customer base, drive sales, and achieve or exceed sales targets within a geographic area. Promote patient access to treatment, build relationships with key clinicians and staff, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive adoption while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Represent Oncology products and services to a defined customer base, generating and growing sales, and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets within a specific geographic area
- Prepare a business plan for the territory to achieve goals and monitor sales progress and action plans
- Identify patient pathways within oncology offices in the territory and facilitate patient access to treatment
- Promote products to targeted oncologists and office staff, in-service staff to ensure safe and appropriate drug administration, and inform them of Gilead patient services
- Establish and develop relationships with key customers, accounts, and relevant key opinion leaders
- Experience in hospital and large account sales, managing through complex reimbursement issues
- Strong written and verbal communication, solid presentation skills, and ability to influence others to represent Gilead at professional events
- Partner with Medical Scientists, Marketing, and Market Access on cross-functional projects to drive sales and patient adoption
- Demonstrate leadership among peers by applying compliant behavior and conduct
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues and opportunities, and communicate proactively to Marketing and Sales management
- Complete administrative tasks promptly, e.g., updating customer database, expenses
- Ensure all personnel are informed of and in compliance with Gilead commercial compliance policy and applicable laws and guidance related to product promotion
Qualifications
Required:
- 6+ years with BS/BA or 4+ years with MS/MA
Preferred:
- A valid driver's license is required
- A minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare sales experience and a BS/BA degree or equivalent
- Previous product launch experience
- Superior selling skills in highly competitive markets
- Prior experience in oncology therapy
- Prior experience in breast cancer therapy is strongly preferred
- Aptitude for understanding scientific product-related information
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and build working relationships internally and externally, especially with Oncology key opinion leaders
- Proven expertise in influencing and negotiation
- Experience in account planning and cross-functional account management
- Self-motivated with autonomy and independence
- Familiar with industry trends and competitor practices
- Analytical skills to identify and interpret moderately complex issues and provide recommendations
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
