Role Summary
As a Senior Therapeutic Specialist, Oncology, you represent Gilead's oncology products to a defined customer base and drive sales within a geographic area, consistently aiming to meet or exceed targets. You will establish and develop relationships with healthcare practices, deliver disease-awareness information, provide clinical updates, and translate complex concepts for diverse audiences. This role covers the Columbia-Charleston territory (Charleston, Greenville, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Florence and surrounding areas); relocation is not available. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support patient access and adoption of therapies.
Responsibilities
- Represent Oncology products and services to a defined customer base, generate and grow sales, and consistently achieve or exceed sales targets within a specific geographic area.
- Prepare a business plan for the territory and implement systems to monitor sales progress and action plans.
- Identify patient pathways within oncology offices in the assigned territory and facilitate patient access to treatment.
- Promote products to targeted oncologists and office staff, in-service staff to ensure safe and appropriate drug administration, and raise awareness of Gilead patient services.
- Establish and develop business relationships with key customers, accounts, and relevant key opinion leaders.
- Leverage experience in hospital and large account sales to manage complex reimbursement issues.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, solid presentation skills, and the ability to influence others to represent Gilead at professional events and promote products.
- Partner with Medical Scientists, Marketing, and Market Access on cross-functional projects to drive sales and patient adoption.
- Demonstrate leadership among peers through consistent compliance, appropriate behavior, and conduct.
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues and opportunities; communicate proactively to Marketing and Sales management.
- Complete administrative tasks promptly (e.g., updating customer database, expenses).
- Ensure department personnel are informed of and in compliance with Gilead commercial compliance policy and applicable federal and state laws and guidance relating to product promotion and information dissemination (FD&C Act, FDA regulations, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, PhRMA, OIG guidance).
Qualifications
- Required: 6+ years with BS/BA or 4+ years with MS/MA.
- Preferred: Minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare sales experience and a BS/BA degree or equivalent.
- Preferred: Previous product launch experience.
- Preferred: Superior selling skills in highly competitive markets.
- Preferred: Prior experience in oncology therapy.
- Preferred: Prior experience in breast cancer is strongly preferred.
- Preferred: Aptitude for understanding scientific product-related information.
- Preferred: Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop relationships with Oncology key opinion leaders.
- Preferred: Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and manage accounts; cross-functional account management experience.
- Preferred: Self-motivated with autonomy.
- Preferred: Familiar with industry trends and current with competitors' resources and practices.
- Preferred: Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to identify and interpret moderate to complex issues and provide recommendations.
- Preferred: Strong ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Additional Requirements
- Travel within the assigned area as reasonably required.
- Onsite visitation requirements for healthcare practitioners within the assigned area (which may include vaccinations, screenings, and other requirements).
- A valid driver's license is required.
