Role Summary
Senior Therapeutic Specialist, Oncology at Gilead, responsible for representing oncology products to a defined customer base and driving sales within a geographic territory to meet or exceed targets. Build strong relationships with healthcare practices, provide timely disease awareness information and clinical updates, and translate complex clinical concepts for diverse audiences. This role covers the Columbia-Charleston territory (Charleston, Greenville, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Florence and surrounding areas). Relocation is not available.
Responsibilities
- Represent Oncology products and services to a defined customer base, generating and growing sales, and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets within a specific geographic area.
- Prepare a business plan for the territory to achieve goals and implement systems to monitor sales progress and action plans.
- Identify patient pathways within oncology offices in the assigned territory and facilitate patient access to treatment.
- Promote assigned products to targeted oncologists and office staff, in-servicing all staff to ensure safe and appropriate drug administration, and work with all staff to make them aware of the suite of Gilead patient services.
- Establish and develop business relationships with key customers, accounts, and relevant key opinion leaders.
- Experience in hospital and large account sales, managing through complex reimbursement issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, solid presentation skills, and the ability to influence others to represent Gilead at professional events and promote company products.
- Partner with Medical Scientists, Marketing, and Market Access on cross-functional projects to drive sales and patient adoption.
- Demonstrates leadership among peers by consistent application and modeling of appropriate compliance, behavior, and conduct.
- Assist in the identification and resolution of issues and opportunities, and communicate proactively to Marketing and Sales management.
- Complete necessary administrative tasks promptly, e.g., updating customer database, expenses, etc.
- Ensure all department personnel are fully informed of, and in compliance with Gilead commercial compliance policy and applicable laws and guidance relating to product promotion and information dissemination.
Qualifications
- Required: 6+ years with BS/BA or 4+ years with MS/MA.
- Preferred: Ability to engage in travel as may be reasonably required, including regular travel within the assigned area (and, to the extent applicable, satisfaction of travel requirements).
- Preferred: Onsite visitation requirements of healthcare practitioners within an assigned area, if applicable (vaccinations, drug and background screenings, and other requirements that may apply).
- Preferred: A valid driver's license is required.
- Preferred: A minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare sales experience and a BS/BA degree or equivalent, preferred.
- Preferred: Previous product launch experience.
- Preferred: Superior selling skills in highly competitive markets.
- Preferred: Prior experience in oncology therapy.
- Preferred: Prior experience in the therapeutic field of breast cancer is strongly preferred.
- Preferred: Aptitude for understanding scientific product-related information.
- Preferred: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and build working relationships internally and externally, including relationships with Oncology key opinion leaders.
- Preferred: Proven expertise in influencing as well as strong negotiation skills; proven experience in account planning and cross-functional account management.
- Preferred: Self-motivated and able to work with a general level of autonomy and independence.
- Preferred: Familiar with industry trends and remain current with competitors' resources and practices.
- Preferred: Demonstrated analytical skills to identify and understand moderate to complex issues and interpret information to provide recommendations to management and specialists.
- Preferred: Strong ability to work in cross-functional teams.
