Role Summary
Senior Therapeutic Specialist, Oncology, represents Gilead's products and services to a defined customer base within a specific geographic area, with a focus on achieving or exceeding sales targets. The role involves in-person representation and meetings with healthcare practitioners, building strong relationships with practices to provide disease awareness information, clinical updates, and healthcare changes. This opportunity covers the Brooklyn, NY territory.
Responsibilities
- Represent Oncology products and services to a defined customer base, generate and grow sales, and consistently achieve or exceed sales targets within a geographic area
- Prepare a business plan for the territory to achieve goals and monitor sales progress and action plans
- Identify patient pathways within oncology offices in the territory and facilitate patient access to treatment
- Promote products to oncologists and office staff, in-service staff to ensure safe and appropriate drug administration, and inform staff of Gilead patient services
- Establish and develop relationships with key customers, accounts, and key opinion leaders
- Experience in hospital and large account sales, managing complex reimbursement issues
- Strong written and verbal communication, solid presentation skills, and ability to influence stakeholders at professional events
- Partner with Medical Scientists, Marketing, and Market Access on cross-functional projects to drive sales and patient adoption
- Demonstrate leadership among peers by consistent compliant behavior and conduct
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues, communicating proactively to Marketing and Sales management
- Complete administrative tasks promptly (e.g., updating customer database, expenses)
- Ensure department personnel are informed of and compliant with Gilead commercial compliance policy and applicable laws and guidance related to product promotion and information dissemination
Qualifications
- Required: Education: High School Degree and 11 years of experience; OR Associates Degree and 9 years; OR Bachelor's Degree and 7 years; OR Master's Degree and 5 years
- Required: Ability to travel as needed, including regular travel within the assigned area
- Required: Valid driver's license
- Preferred: A minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare sales experience and a BS/BA or equivalent
- Previous product launch experience
- Proven selling skills in highly competitive markets
- Prior oncology therapy experience, especially breast cancer
- Aptitude for understanding scientific product-related information
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with Oncology KOLs
- Proven influencing, negotiation, and account planning skills
- Self-motivated with autonomous work style
- Familiar with industry trends and competitive practices
- Analytical skills to identify and address moderate to complex issues with recommendations
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
