Job Description
- As a Senior Therapeutic Specialist in Gilead’s HIV Treatment division, represent Gilead’s products and services to a defined customer base.
- Generate and grow sales by consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets within a specific geographic area using comprehensive account management, in-person representation, face-to-face meetings, and strategic partnerships.
- Establish strong relationships with healthcare providers and deliver timely disease awareness, clinical updates, and education on healthcare changes.
- Distill complex clinical concepts into easily understood messages tailored to diverse audiences.
- Cover Asheville territory (Bristol, Johnson City, Knoxville, Chattanooga).
Key Responsibilities
- Build relationships with healthcare providers and understand customer needs to maximize product impact.
- Develop and execute a territory business plan; monitor sales progress and adjust strategies to meet/exceed targets.
- Maintain deep knowledge of Gilead products, competitive products, and disease state complexities.
- Promote appropriate use of Gilead products in accordance with Corporate, PhRMA, and OIG guidelines.
- Partner with local cross-functional colleagues (e.g., field reimbursement managers, medical scientists, other field team members) to provide seamless customer experience across access/acquisition/administration/operational support.
- Collaborate externally with healthcare organizations and partner companies, including co-promotion efforts.
- Model and uphold compliance and ethical behavior; ensure adherence to regulatory and company policies, including timely adverse event reporting to Drug Safety and Public Health.
- Leverage influencing/relationship skills to drive sales outcomes; build long-term provider partnerships.
- Complete administrative tasks: call activity/customer info in designated systems, expense submission, and territory budget management.
- Maintain technical/scientific product knowledge; stay current on industry and therapeutic-area trends.
- Demonstrate self-motivated drive to exceed personal goals while working autonomously.

- Technical/scientific proficiency in therapeutic area (disease states, treatment protocols, competitive landscape).

- Patient-centric focus and account management expertise; experience managing a multi-product portfolio.
Basic Qualifications
- High School + 11 years’ experience OR Associate’s + 9 years OR Bachelor’s + 7 years OR Master’s + 5 years.
- Ability to travel as required within the assigned area.
- Ability to meet onsite visitation requirements for healthcare practitioners (e.g., vaccinations, drug/background screenings, other requirements).
- Valid driver’s license required.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS degree.
- Minimum 7 years of pharmaceutical/biotech/healthcare industry sales experience.
- Superior selling skills in highly competitive markets; consistent track record meeting/exceeding sales objectives (preferably specialty markets).
- Experience selling injectable physician-administered products.
- Familiarity with the managed care landscape.
