Role: R&D scientist leading protein sciences with a focus on antibody expression and purification at Twist Bioscience. Objectives include developing and optimizing antibody production workflows across formats, constructing and improving all stages of antibody development, and building and managing a team of scientists and research associates. Responsibilities encompass experimental design, data analysis, workflow standardization, and staying current with technological advances. Requirements: PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related field; 8+ years in protein sciences with hands-on antibody expression, purification, and characterization skills; experience with bispecific architectures and antibody biology; proficiency in methods like SEC, CE-SDS, BLI, SPR, and biophysical profiling. Preferred skills include experience with cell line development (CHO preferred), automation, and programming (Python), plus knowledge of high-throughput workflows. High-value specificities involve antibody modalities (mAbs, bispecifics, Fc-engineered), platform robustness, and expression optimization. Collaboration involves leading a team and working closely with research staff; travel approximately 10% to Portland, OR. Work setup is onsite in South San Francisco, CA.
