Senior Specialist of Automation serves as the BAS/HVAC technical authority responsible for automation system performance, compliance, reliability, energy optimization, and lifecycle management; provides technical leadership, leads capital projects, manages change controls, supports audits, and maintains BAS systems in GMP compliance.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional collaboration (GWES, Utilities, Maintenance, Quality, R&D, Manufacturing, IT).
- Provide technical direction to specialists/technicians.
- Lead investigations and resolution of systemic BAS/HVAC issues.
- Manage automation and facility system upgrade projects (scope β†’ commissioning/qualification); serve as project manager/capital team leader.
- Perform BAS programming, code changes, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Develop/maintain BAS/HVAC Master Plans and obsolescence strategies.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Define system requirements/specifications/sequences of operation/data integrity requirements.
- Support lifecycle cost analysis, performance monitoring, and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Provide technical oversight for new construction/renovations.

Compliance
- Maintain validated, inspection-ready BAS systems.
- Manage change controls (SDLC documentation/approval workflows).
- Act as BAS/HVAC SME during audits/inspections; keep documentation/SOPs/training/compliance records current.

Demonstrates
- Advanced BAS/HVAC engineering; automation programming/troubleshooting; GxP validation knowledge; change management/SDLC; capital project management; root cause/reliability; cross-functional leadership; energy management/optimization.

Education
- BS in electrical or mechanical Engineering.

Requirements
- 5+ years BAS/HVAC design, operation, maintenance.
- 3+ years working with facilities systems.
- 3+ years Siemens BAS systems proficiency.
- Engineering calculations experience; ASME/ASHRAE/building codes experience.

Preferred
- 3+ years union labor; Siemens Insight and Desigo; PE and/or PMP; 3+ years HVAC calculations.
