Position Summary
Sr. Scientist / Principal Scientist, Global Sample Management (GSM).
Responsibilities
- Execute sample management operations: support manual/automated workflows from registration through powder handling to assay-ready plates and compound libraries (Echo/Hamilton, etc.) per protocols.
- Design and enhance workflows for sample storage and manual/automated powder/liquid handling; improve processes and operational efficiency.
- Support instrument qualification, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting; log maintenance and escalate issues.
- Build expertise on sample types and handling requirements (physicochemical properties, storage conditions, registration accuracy) to ensure assay-fit compounds.
- Partner with scientific project teams to understand context behind sample requests.
- Steward physical inventory and associated data; serve as technical resource for compound registration and data governance across GSM LIMS.
- Troubleshoot complex software/hardware/dispensing issues; develop and validate updates to systems/procedures.
- Perform QC checks on inbound/outbound samples; resolve deviations before shipment/use.
- Coordinate sample shipments; maintain documentation, chain of custody, and regulatory compliance.
- Support material restriction processes and controlled substance tracking within scope.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, governance documentation, and training materials.
Basic Requirements
- BS/MS in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutics, Informatics, Engineering, Logistics, or related field.
- 3β5+ years relevant lab/sample management or data stewardship experience.
- Authorization to work in the US full-time; no visa sponsorship.
Additional Skills/Preferences
- Organizational attention to detail; data/sample quality mindset.
- LIMS experience; resolve data integrity issues in high-volume datasets.
- Communication and escalation with context.
- Experience with automated liquid handling/acoustic dispensing (Echo/Hamilton/Tecan); high-throughput sample handling.
- Basic SQL; interest in operational reporting.
- Cheminformatics/scientific database exposure; compound/biological sample management; research material logistics; OEB/PHM potency or high-potency handling; controlled substance awareness.
