Role Summary

Sr. Scientist (Modeling), Engineering role within the Global Animal Health Manufacturing (GAHM) organization. Lead Process and Product Modeling efforts, developing and utilizing advanced computational models to accelerate and optimize development, launch, technical transfer, and routine production of the portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary scientists and engineers to create end-to-end predictive models for drug substance and drug product manufacturing operations, covering scale-up/scale-down, tech-transfer, and fluid-flow/multiphase-flow modeling in unit operations.
  • Develop and apply mechanistic and data-driven models including filtration, process flowsheets, process economics, and digital twins to address commercialization challenges.
  • Champion computational tools to reduce costs, minimize experimental batches, shorten timelines, and improve product quality and process robustness; translate modeling results into actionable strategies.
  • Lead deployment of computational solutions using commercial software, open-source tools, and proprietary models.
  • Work independently across multiple projects with effective time management.
  • Present work at internal meetings and conferences, and contribute to publications.
  • Lead collaborations with universities, research organizations, and CMOs/CDMOs to advance modeling capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Required: Doctoral degree (PhD) with 0โ€šร„รฌ3 years of relevant experience, or Masterโ€šร„รดs degree (MS) with 4โ€šร„รฌ7 years of relevant experience.
  • Disciplines include Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong research background in computational modeling relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Expertise in one or more computational techniques: CFD, first-principle models, numerical methods, flowsheet models, PBM, statistical methods, data-driven models, etc.
  • Experience with software tools such as M-Star, ANSYS Fluent, SuperPro, ASPEN Plus, gPROMS, BioSolve, Dynochem, GoSilico, CADET, etc.
  • Proficiency in Python (preferred), Matlab, C/C++, or R.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work in cross-functional teams; experience with biologics/vaccines/sterile manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying modeling in regulated manufacturing environments; knowledge of cGMP.
  • Experience with high-performance computing.
  • Strong publication, presentation, or patent record.
  • Knowledge of statistical software (Minitab, JMP) and modeling techniques such as ML/AI, CFD, etc.
