Role Overview
The Senior Scientist, Lentivirus Upstream Process Development, will design, execute, and optimize upstream production processes for lentiviral vectors (LVV) to deliver high-quality, high-titer vector products for cell therapy programs. Apply upstream processing expertiseโ€”including seed train optimization, HEK293/HEK293T cell culture, large-scale transient transfection, and bioreactor scale-upโ€”to ensure robust, scalable, phase-appropriate GMP manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experimental strategies for lentiviral vector upstream production.
- Develop and optimize seed train expansion, suspension mammalian cell culture (HEK293/HEK293T), plasmid transient transfection, and feed batch/perfusion bioprocessing in stir-tank and rocker bioreactors.
- Establish and validate bioreactor scale-up/scale-down models for comparability.
- Translate bench processes to GMP manufacturing; support technology transfer and troubleshooting during clinical runs.
- Execute study protocols (operating parameters, feeding strategies, performance limits) and maintain accurate USP documentation.
- Communicate findings, issues, and risks; collaborate cross-functionally (CMC Project Management, Downstream/Analytical teams).
- Optimize vector titer/specific productivity/quality; provide technical guidance to junior staff.
- Author/review SOPs, development reports, and IND-relevant sections; ensure internal and regulatory compliance.

Requirements
- PhD preferred (or MS) in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field.
- 5โ€“8 years (PhD) or 8+ years (MS) in biotech/pharma process development or manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with HEK293/HEK293T, seed train expansion, feeding strategy, and transient transfection for viral vectors (lentivirus preferred).
- Bioreactor scale-up/scale-down model experience; GMP and CMC knowledge for early-phase clinical trials.
- Engineering modeling, mass transfer, and bioprocess optimization knowledge.
- Strong communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

Preferred
- Large-scale upstream bioreactor experience (>50L; e.g., 200L/500L).
- English; Mandarin a plus.

Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision; 401(k) match; 8 weeks paid parental leave after 3 months; paid time off (vacation/personal/sick/floating holidays/11 holidays).
- Base pay range: $127,313โ€“$167,099 USD.

Application instructions
- Not specified in provided text.
