Clinical Research and Development
Purpose:
AbbVie Analytical Research & Development (ARD) seeks an experienced Separations Scientist with expertise in chromatographic method development to develop robust, reliable separation methods for pipeline programs within the Screening Lab.

Responsibilities:
- Resolve key project hurdles and assumptions using technical expertise to deliver results within timelines.
- Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present at internal/external conferences.
- Proactively incorporate literature findings into individual projects and overall program.
- Pursue project-relevant leads aligned with group strategy.
- Develop high-throughput platform screening capabilities for separation-based assays.
- Evaluate novel technology approaches and build scientific profile through pipeline contributions and scholarly achievements.
- Maintain high laboratory productivity and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Adhere to standards for code of conduct, safety, material handling, controlled drug/radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care (where applicable).
- May mentor/supervise 1+ team members and be accountable for team performance.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s (typically 10 years), Master’s (typically 8 years), or PhD (no experience required).
- Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of discipline.
- Effective writer and communicator of research/regulatory materials.
- Strong understanding of chromatography properties and theory.
- Proven hands-on experience developing novel complex analytical methods.
- Preferred: in-silico techniques (chromatographic modeling, machine learning) and familiarity with Fusion, Drylab, Chromsword, or GoSilico.
