Role Summary

Senior Scientist in Amgen’s Discovery Proteomics Group. Utilize mass spectrometry-based proteomic technologies to advance target discovery and support pipeline programs across Amgen’s therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and analyze proteomic experiments to explore pathways relevant to human disease
  • Identify and implement new proteomic strategies and methodologies to accelerate scientific discovery
  • Collaborate with disease areas and therapeutic development teams as a technical and intellectual subject matter expert
  • Effectively communicate plans, results, and analyses to cross-functional teams

Qualifications

  • Required: Doctorate degree
  • Required: Master’s degree with 3 years of scientific experience
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of scientific experience
  • Required: Associate’s degree with 10 years of scientific experience
  • Required: High school diploma / GED with 12 years of scientific experience
  • Preferred: PhD or MD with postdoctoral research experience in mass spectrometry

Skills

  • Technical expertise in proteomic sample preparation workflows, peptide and protein level chromatographic separations, mass spectrometer operation, and bioinformatic analysis of proteomics data
  • Experience with programming (R/Python), Unix/Linux environments, and cloud computing environments for proteomic data analysis
  • Independent critical thinking and scientific achievement demonstrated by high impact publications
  • Ability to collaborate in an integrated team with strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, and a track record of reliable, reproducible results

Education

  • Doctorate degree or equivalent in a relevant field
