Responsibilities:
- Serve as SME for assigned product(s) and rare disease area; apply medical/scientific expertise to guide strategy and engage stakeholders.
- Develop and manage rare disease scientific knowledge infrastructure (e.g., Scientific Communication Platform, medical narrative, lexicon, resource library).
- Lead cross-functional rare disease publication strategy and plans (with Publication Lead[s]).
- Lead medical content and medical communication strategy (with Medical Communications Lead[s] and partners) aligned to timelines and stakeholder needs.
- Translate complex clinical data into clear, tailored messages; develop targeted communication materials and channel strategies.
- Collaborate on evidence generation and pipeline initiatives with R&D, Clinical, and Medical.
- Identify healthcare community needs/educational gaps.
- Support launch and strategic readiness plans aligning medical affairs content with commercial, clinical, and regulatory goals.
- Mentor Medical Affairs team members; drive content excellence.
- Monitor/report disease state and industry trends.
- Engage KOLs/HCPs via congresses, symposiums, and advisory boards.
- Ensure medical content complies with SOPs, regulatory requirements, and medical-legal review.
- Maintain medical affairs planning/workflow tools and systems with Medical Operations; ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred).
- 12+ years medical/scientific publications or medical communications experience (pharma/healthcare, academia, or related).
- 5+ years director-level leadership of medical affairs/medical communications teams.
- Recognized leader/expert in medical publications, scientific communications, and medical affairs.
- Demonstrated expertise in publication structure/content/quality and regulations/best practices; expert writing experience.
- Working knowledge of statistical concepts; ability to interpret clinical data and strategic concepts.
- Experience with multi-channel scientific platforms and innovative communication tactics.

Preferred:
- CMPP or AMWA certification.
- Medical Affairs/Medical Communications fellowship or residency.
