Job Description
Senior Research Associate, Protein Sciences (Protein Therapeutics in Gilead Research). Hands-on knowledge in recombinant antibody purification, bioconjugation, and protein analytics; ability to produce and interpret experimental data with scientific rigor and independence. Work with cross-functional teams to generate/validate therapeutic proteins and tool molecules including monoclonal/bispecific antibodies, immunocytokines, ADCs, and other complex biologics.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform protein purification and characterization; document in electronic lab notebook and informatics systems to support preclinical development.
- Prepare technical reports/summaries and submit/check in protein samples into the sample bank.
- Communicate scientific data and update collaborators on purification status/challenges.
- Participate in group meetings; present results, interpret data, draw conclusions, and propose next steps.
- Stay current on cutting-edge technical developments; apply to improve quality/efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree + 2 years’ experience OR Master’s Degree.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
- 2+ years purifying/characterizing recombinant proteins (monoclonal antibodies/complex biologics, bi/multi-specific).
- Affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion, HIC chromatography (AKTA Avant/Pure).
- Analytical characterization: SEC-HPLC/UHPLC, SDS-PAGE/CE-SDS, Endosafe; ADC QC assays; bioconjugation methods; method development/protocol writing.
- Knowledge of DLS, SEC-MALS, LC/MS, IEX/HIC-HPLC; automation (autosamplers, automated liquid handling) and scripting/programming.

- Salary range: $94,945.00–$122,870.00; may include discretionary bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and medical/dental/vision/life insurance.
