Sr. Principal Platform Engineer / Service Owner (F5)– Enterprise Connectivity

Role Summary

Seeking an experienced F5 Platform Engineer / Service Owner to join our team and lead the implementation, and support of advanced application delivery and security solutions. This role is critical to ensuring high availability, security, and performance for enterprise applications across on-premises and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Implement F5 BIG-IP solutions (LTM, GTM/DNS, APM, ASM/WAF).
• Develop iRules, iApps, and automation scripts for traffic management.
• Deploy and configure F5 hardware and virtual appliances.
• Perform OS/firmware upgrades and apply security hardening.
• Own and monitor system health and troubleshoot complex network/application issues.
• Configure WAF policies and manage SSL/TLS certificates.
• Automate deployments using Python, Bash, and Ansible.
• Collaborate with application, network, and security teams.
• Create technical documentation, runbooks, and provide knowledge transfer.
• Plan migrations, capacity analysis, and lifecycle management.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science
• Required: Hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP modules (LTM, GTM, APM, ASM).
• Required: Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS).
• Required: Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Ansible).
• Required: Familiarity with security standards and compliance frameworks such as NIST, CIS, DISA-STIG.
• Required: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and configuration management tools such as Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, Azure DevOps.
• Required: Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams
• Required: Demonstrated capability to lead & influence major projects and business outcomes
• Required: Experience in managing relationships with third-party vendors and service providers
• Required: Experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial management
• Preferred: F5 certifications (CA, CTS in LTM/GTM, etc, Security track)
• Preferred: Experience with F5 Distributed Cloud, BIG-IQ, F5 and cloud-native LB solutions in AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Kubernetes Ingress and/or Service Mesh solutions.
• Preferred: Additional enterprise-scale experience in managing and operating platforms for broad application delivery and enablement of services (e.g. NextGen firewall platforms such as Palo Alto Networks and/or Cisco).

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science

Additional Requirements

• Position requires 5-10% travel
• Position located in Indianapolis, Indiana working in a hybrid model. (Relocation required)
