Sr. Principal - Engineer - Automation (Small Molecule)

Role: Sr. Principal Automation Engineer leading the design and delivery of DeltaV DCS systems for Lilly’s new small molecule API manufacturing facility in Houston, supporting GMP startup planned for 2029-2030. Responsibilities: oversee automation project workstreams, collaborate with engineering firms, system integrators, and corporate IT; develop requirements, manage software testing and qualification; support GMP operations post-startup; develop site automation procedures, and contribute to safety and validation strategies. Requirements: Bachelor’s in engineering or related field; 8+ years in process automation, specifically on Emerson DeltaV platform; experience in API/drug substance manufacturing preferred; expertise in process instrumentation, batch control, data historians, and system integration including MES; strong analytical, collaboration, and influencing skills. High-value: small molecule API, process automation, GMP startup, DeltaV DCS, system qualification, and site automation development. Work setup: site-based with less than 20% travel; involved in startup and ongoing manufacturing support.
