Key Responsibilities:
- Perform non-routine analyses of suspect drug substances, drug products, and other samples suspected to involve counterfeiting, tampering, or diversion using LC-MS (intact mass and peptide mapping), HPLC, UPLC, spectroscopy, and other analytical techniques.
- Analyze LC-MS data and perform limited structure elucidation on small and large molecules.
- Provide non-laboratory support for product authentication processes (e.g., packaging authentication and variable data verification).
- Collaborate with analytical SMEs to solve complex sample analyses.
- Support special studies proposed by business partners (e.g., Global Security, Legal).
- Develop and validate robust advanced methods with required performance attributes.
- Maintain mass spectrometry proficiency via community/forums.
- Troubleshoot methods and/or equipment.
- Execute testing protocols per local procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training or mentorship as required.

Job Specific Pre-requisites:
- Deep expertise in separation sciences, spectroscopy, and hyphenated MS (MS and MSn.) techniques.
- Proficiency with multiple instrument platforms (e.g., Thermo, Agilent, Waters) and software (Chromeleon, Excalibur, Biopharma Finder, Genedata, etc.).
- Ability to handle controlled substances; manage confidential information; work with non-technical personnel.
- Strong technical problem-solving; ability to work independently; high attention to detail.

Basic Requirements:
- Minimum B.S. in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific field.
- 5+ years of recent bench experience in mass-spectrometry-related laboratory work.

Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Structure elucidation on small and large molecules.
- Knowledge of Lilly systems (e.g., NuGenesis/eLN, Quality Docs, SAP, SmartLab).
- Strong written and oral communication; independent and proactive work; conflict resolution.
- High learning agility and flexibility.
- Working knowledge in chemical/peptide/protein synthesis; spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, NIR, Raman).
- Familiarity with NuGenesis/QMS-style systems and imaginative problem-solving.

- Anticipated wage: $65,250 - $169,400.
