Role Summary
Senior Manager – Portfolio Management for the Irvine, California location. This role partners with cross-functional leadership to build and manage the Electrophysiology (EP) portfolio, develop supporting capabilities and tools, and support prioritization and tradeoff decisions in alignment with the broader EP business and operational strategy.
Responsibilities
- Drive collaboration and partnership with the MedTech Center, EP teams and external partners to ensure a robust portfolio aligned to E2E business strategy and development of scalable capabilities to enable portfolio management
- Develop templates and guidance to build and maintain portfolio CIP initiatives, NPIs/ NPD in partnership with cross-functional leaders
- Manage relationships with portfolio leaders to ensure accurate definition and prioritization of initiatives
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure assumptions and business cases align with business expectations for accurate prioritization and reporting
- Manage master data, assumptions/conventions, trainings, etc. related to portfolio and business cycles (BP, LRFP); include process, documentation, and system updates
- Oversee development teams for key tools and capabilities to support financial cycles, BP, portfolio management, etc.
- Develop requirements for systems/tools to support portfolio management
- Pressure-test and validate major/prioritized initiative business cases and assumptions with portfolio leads/initiative owners
- Foster cross-functional understanding of the “why” and the “how” to define, deliver, and sustain the portfolio of initiatives
- Ensure robust plans with a continuous mindset for execution of defined initiatives within governance
- Develop reporting cadence, methodology, and visualizations to inform leadership on value realized, resource management, risks, and prioritization
- Create executive-level materials to communicate portfolio strategy, progress, and cross-functional alignment
- Link failure modes and improvement opportunities to root causes for long-term success
- Manage execution of critical capabilities to deliver on strategy and maturity roadmap
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to input into strategy cycles (Strategic Planning, Long Range Financial Planning, Business Planning)
- Coordinate with leads of connected business management processes to develop and facilitate ongoing reporting for E2E LT and identify escalations
- Lead development of updates, communications, analyses, and reports for the EP E2E Team
- Lead and manage the CRC request and approval process end-to-end for EP, including templates, meetings, follow-ups, and tracking against objectives
- Partner with BWI Investment office to track and report initiative funding and progress against milestones
Qualifications
- Required: 10+ years of directly related work experience
- Required: Demonstrated success in communicating across all levels of the organization
- Required: Experience in business case development; financial acumen is required
- Required: Manufacturing and program/portfolio management experience
- Required: Proven ability to lead and influence in a complex matrix organization; able to navigate ambiguity
- Required: Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and/or internationally
- Required: Relationship development, conflict resolution, team building and customer-centric approach across multiple sectors
- Required: Operations competencies including business planning cycles, process excellence, and performance monitoring
- Preferred: Agile decision making and cross-functional collaboration skills
Education
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or technical discipline
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Finance, or Supply Chain
