Role Summary
(Sr) Medical Science Liaison, Lupus - Central role within US Medical Affairs that informs medical practice and engages Key Medical Experts and healthcare professionals to communicate the clinical and scientific narrative for Biogenโs therapies. Focus on diversity and inclusion in the workforce and patient communities.
Responsibilities
- Be a credible medical/scientific expert engaging with KMEs and HCPs to support informed clinical decisions for patient care.
- Build deep, strategic, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, viewed as a partner rather than transactional.
- Act as a responsive, solutions-driven conduit to leaders in the medical community.
- Engage in projects and initiatives aligned to US Medical strategy, objectives, and tactics.
- Deliver against KME engagement plans, navigate resources with field and non-field colleagues, and capture/report medical insights using Veeva with accuracy to inform medical and clinical strategies.
Qualifications
- Advanced Scientific or Clinical degree; doctoral (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP) level required.
- Minimum two yearsโ experience as an MSL or similar role in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry for MSL consideration.
- Five years' experience as an MSL or similar role for Senior MSL consideration.
- Effective communication: concise, confident, credible; empathetic listening and audience-adaptive responses.
- Digital proficiency: comfortable with technology and new tools; willingness to learn.
- Accountability: reliable delivery against goals; metrics/KPIs viewed as value communication opportunities.
- Ethical: adheres to industry rules for patient benefit.
- Travel: able to travel at least 60% of the time, including overnight and weekend travel.
- Must be 18+ with valid driverโs license and acceptable driving record; authorization to drive company leased vehicle or rental.
Preferred Skills
- Clinical experience and subject matter expertise in the respective therapeutic area.
- Subject matter expertise in lupus (SLE and CLE) highly preferred.
Education
- Doctoral-level degree required (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP).
Additional Requirements
- Travel up to 60% of the time, including overnight and some weekends.
