Role Summary

Sr. Medical Science Liaison - Cardiovascular Metabolic, Ohio. Field-based role engaging cardiometabolic stakeholders to advance scientific platform and align with Amgen’s organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with healthcare partners to educate and communicate clinical and scientific data to advance the scientific platform.
  • Educate and communicate clinical value, outcomes, and economic data to payers, providers, partners, advocacy, and access enablers.
  • Provide in-depth clinical and economic support to payers, IDNs, and formulary committees; share insights with internal teams on trends in value evidence, reimbursement, and payer policy; may serve as main medical contact at local/regional payer and IDN accounts.
  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries in line with MSL compliance standards.
  • Provide and/or present field observations and insights to internal collaborators.
  • Implement a scientific engagement plan according to annual MSL goals and metrics.
  • Develop and implement local operating plans in line with SEP.
  • Support speaker training and ensure updated data is provided to speakers.
  • Support Amgen-sponsored research and may serve as study lead; educate investigators on investigator-sponsored study submissions.
  • Lead or participate on project teams supporting MSL strategies and tactics; lead or support congress activities as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues; may serve as main point of contact.
  • Maintain clinical expertise and complete training; may serve as training lead or mentor.
  • Advance MSL value proposition, identify gaps, and demonstrate Amgen values and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree with 2 years of Medical Affairs experience, or
    • Master’s degree with 6 years of Medical Affairs experience, or
    • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of Medical Affairs experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered)
    • 2+ years of industry experience in Scientific or Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
    • 2+ years in a medical science liaison role in a biotech or pharmaceutical company
    • Experience in a medically related field (e.g., residencies/fellowships)
    • Cardio-metabolic expertise preferred
