Role Summary

Sr. Medical Science Liaison, Bone Health — Territory to include Ohio/Indiana. Field-based role communicating and advancing the scientific platform in the Bone Health area, interacting with Bone opinion leaders and population healthcare decision makers to align with Amgen’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Field-based medical expert within the Medical Science Liaison group
  • Communicate accurate, clear, and valued information about science and products to the medical community; provide field observations to internal stakeholders
  • Support Scientific Engagement Plan (SEP) in developing local territory R&D tactics
  • Educate healthcare stakeholders (including APPs, fellows, and residents) by communicating clinical and scientific data
  • Educate on clinical value, outcomes, and economic data to payers, providers, stakeholders, advocacy, and access enablers
  • Provide clinical and pharmacoeconomic support to payers, IDNs, and formulary committees; may serve as main medical contact for local payer, regional payer, and IDN accounts
  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries in accordance with MSL compliance standards
  • Present field observations and insights to internal stakeholders
  • Execute SEP according to annual MSL goals and metrics
  • Develop and implement local OL plans in line with SEP
  • Support speaker training and ensure updated data for speakers
  • Support Amgen-sponsored research; may serve as study lead
  • Liaise with investigators in non-sponsored clinical research; facilitate submission of investigator-initiated proposals
  • Lead or participate on project teams supporting MSL strategies
  • Lead or support congress activities; may serve as congress lead
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues; may be main point of contact
  • Maintain clinical acumen and training; may serve as training lead and mentor
  • Advance MSL value proposition; demonstrate Amgen values and leadership
  • Demonstrate tact and professionalism
  • Plan and organize work; build relationships; achieve high performance
  • Maintain industry and technical acumen; leverage clinical and therapeutic expertise

Qualifications

  • Required: Doctorate degree with 2 years of Medical Affairs experience; OR Master’s degree with 6 years of Medical Affairs experience; OR Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of Medical Affairs experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., D.O., DNP or other doctoral degrees
  • 3+ years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison
  • Five years of industry experience in Scientific/Medical Affairs at biotech or pharmaceutical company
  • Experience in managed market/payer/IDN engagement
  • Five or more years in clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research; includes post-doctoral training
  • Bone health/osteoporosis expertise
