Sr. Mechanical Engineer – Utilities Senior Engineer (New Albany, OH Advanced Assembly and Packing Facility)
What You Will Do
- Handle utilities maintenance and implement projects for the facility.
- Ensure safe, effective, efficient, and cost-appropriate operations and maintenance programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for 24/7 field support to identify and resolve utilities and facilities issues.
- Own site utility equipment and/or systems.
- Maintain deep technical understanding of Boilers, Chillers, Compressed Air, and HVAC.
- Ensure utility systems are compliant with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Own and maintain related drawings and P&IDs.
- Coach/provide technical expertise to technicians supporting infrastructure operations.
- Identify and implement improvements to equipment/process reliability and minimize maintenance impact on operations.
- Lead continuous improvement strategies across the site and all shifts.
- Collaborate with key customers and support groups on O&M activities and strategies.
- Collaborate with Facilities & Engineering peers across the Amgen manufacturing network.
- Ensure activities are completed safely and in accordance with cGMP.
What We Expect Of You
Basic Qualifications
- Doctorate degree; or Master’s + 2 years maintenance/engineering; or Bachelor’s + 4 years; or Associate’s + 8 years; or HS/GED + 10 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.
- 6+ years engineering/maintenance in biotech/pharma/medical devices.
- 5+ years ensuring compliance in a highly regulated environment.
- 5+ years engineering project management.
- 5+ years process and/or machine validation.
- 3+ years CAPA process management.
- Technical experience with critical/non-critical utilities (HVAC, compressed air, boilers, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/prioritize.
- Technical writing skills.
Competencies
- Leadership; Operational Excellence; financial savvy; strong oral/written communication and executive presentation.
- Facilitation/consensus building; negotiate/influence peers and executives; analytical/problem-solving; knowledge of industry/regulatory trends.
