Sr. Manager, R&D Operations (on site, Irvine, CA)
Overview
- Strategic extension of the VP of R&D overseeing horizontal functions supporting project teams (contracts, customer engagement coordination, user experience). Leads R&D strategic initiatives, material optimization program management, and compliance-related needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on strategic enabling activities and collaborator engagement.
- Oversee R&D coordination for contracts and customer engagements to align external commitments with internal delivery.
- Lead program management for special R&D implementation projects.
- Oversee the Manager of User Experience to ensure strategy and delivery align with product roadmaps and R&D priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement via standardization of R&D processes, tools, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and innovation within development teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s required (engineering, science, or related); Master’s preferred.
- 8–10+ years in R&D, program management, quality, or operations in a regulated industry; medical device experience preferred.
- Demonstrated cross-functional initiative and program management experience.
- People leadership experience.
- Strong written/verbal communication; ability to present to leadership.
- Advanced Microsoft 365 skills (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Word).
